The recovery of deteriorated credits and the management of potential defaults are, in essence, arts. As such, they hold the secrets of the "corporation" and rely on the oral exchange of knowledge; hence the opportunity to meet again in Verona to allow the "workshops" and their "artists" to confront each other. New rules (a new code of crisis and a new reform of civil proceedings) require testing established practices, all while enduring a difficult economic situation that makes the art of recovery and management increasingly uncertain and subject to chance. In addition, there are doubts about a possible financial crisis.
The credit management sector has already attempted, in the past, to transform from an "art" to a "technique" and from artisanal work to an industrial practice. In this regard, the Italian market of NPEs is one of the most advanced and mature, but during these meetings, we must try to understand together if recent developments, such as artificial intelligence, could be game-changers and whether they can, therefore, lead the industry towards a true science. As Thomas Kuhn observed, every revolution overturns a paradigm, an "art status." If, as some argue, we are truly near the horizon of events today, meetings like these are even more important because they provide the opportunity to take stock of what is and, above all, because they satisfy the need to predict what will be. The big picture, as the word suggests, can only be seen when we are "together," and it emerges by combining the brushstrokes of everyone, to present a coherent image that can guide our perspective as "industry artisans."
